In 1487, a Florentine confectioner named Bartolomeo Zebrini left a bucket of cream next to a painting of a zebra. Nobody has been able to explain what happened next. Five centuries later, we still don't know. But we know it's delicious.

Is there actual zebra in the gelato?

Absolutely not. The zebras make the gelato. They are paid handsomely, in grass and dignity. There is zebra spirit in the gelato, which is legally distinct.
